Right time to discuss visa with program

When is the right time to discuss what kind of visa (J1, H1B) programs could potentially offer you? During the interview? After match results? Visa-type could determine how you rank a program, so is the best time during the interview?

Definitely DURING the interview or before. You need to know what the program can offer you and the program needs to know what they need to do for you. If you want the H1b, bring it up. I brought if up during my interview, was told only J1, then emailed again later before the rank deadline, I asked someone in GME who deals with this stuff and knows about the visa process, and was informed that I would be eligible for H1b. So make sure you ask completely, and definitely let the program know during your interview.
