Rising M3 lacking organizational skills

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I will say that I can relate, but you need to get this **** under control ASAP because it *can* and *will* kill your career, makes no bones about it so take it really ****ing seriously

half the reason that med schools kick up the huge fuss they do about deadlines and box checking is because it absolutely is essential to being a successful doctor

I have some ideas on organization I might add later

For what I understand, this is correct. FWIW, our school tells us that the students that have issues in this area now will have many difficulties with licensing, credentialing, MOC, etc in the future.

What works for me is to work on these tasks immediately before I have a chance to forget/procrastinate. If a form or something comes up in my email, I take the 5 min to fill it out and send it off so it's done. For other things that might require a little bit more time, I schedule a specific date and time in my planner for it. It's easy to let phone calls and emails and stuff to pile up, so I'll block off an hour or 2 to run thru my list.

If your issue is with charting, you could try to make sure your notes for the day are done before you go home. Honestly though, charting as a student shouldn't take that much time.

What are you afraid of?

If you were peeing blood, you'd go get help, right?

Don't be a non-compliant patient; you're going to have plenty of those in your clinical career.

If that's still not a good solution for you, go talk to your classmates who really impress you, and ask them for tips.

I was thinking of speaking to our school's "learning specialist" about this, but have so far stayed off the radar and would like to continue.
