Rite Aid in 2009

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Krispy Kreme...that is so sad.

haha, haven't we been discussing Rite-Aid's doom on SDN for a while now?

I say buy out by Wags in Q3 2009 and 1/4 of locations closed by 1Q 2010, just a guess.

How can this be?! Their stock is worth around 30 cents, unbelievable!

Poorly run companies really get on my nerves. I hope rite aid execs pay the consequences
Their execs should go to prison for criminal negligence, with added sentences if they got huge bonuses within the past three years.

I am sick and ****ing tired of CEOs who care nothing for employees or their company and only want to cash out for their own good. Have fun in the Hamptons you ****s, don't be surprised if you get egged every day when you step outside to get the morning paper (presuming their driveway isn't 5 miles long).

From the WAG employee site; apparently the end is near, but for who?

Walgreens agrees to purchase 12 Rite Aid locations in San Francisco and eastern Idaho

Feb. 5 2009 – Walgreens announced today it has signed an agreement to purchase 12 Rite Aid locations, including seven in San Francisco and five in eastern Idaho. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
While some Walgreens and Rite Aid locations will be combined, Walgreens will have a net increase in the number of locations it operates in both markets once the transaction is completed. Information on specific locations will become available after plans are finalized and employees have been notified. Walgreens anticipates interviewing any Rite Aid employees at the acquired locations who wish to seek employment with the company. Store transitions and any pharmacy patient file transfers are expected to happen by the end of March without any disruption for customers or pharmacy patients.
“Acquiring these San Francisco stores improves our presence in a competitive market and will help us better serve our customers,” said William J. Hose, Walgreens market vice president for San Francisco. “In eastern Idaho, this allows us to add established locations in a strong market. Our pharmacy staffs in both areas will be ready to make the transition as seamless as possible for Rite Aid patients.”
Patients whose prescriptions are being transferred will be notified by letter. Walgreens currently operates 59 stores in San Francisco and 28 throughout Idaho.
Rite Aid stores affected by the transaction include:

San Francisco:
• 1300 Bush St.
• 5280 Geary Blvd.
• 1496 Market St.
• 776 Market St.
• 200 W. Portal Ave.
• 1830 Ocean Ave.
• 3931 Alemany Blvd.
Eastern Idaho:
• 1000 Pocatello Creek Road, Pocatello
• 960 W. Bridge St., Blackfoot
• 1139 Addison Ave. East, Twin Falls
• 904 E. Main St., Burley
• 1745 W. Broadway St., Idaho Falls

Good lord, SF is like a freakin' Wags island now, even more so than before.

Well, if Rite Aid goes out of business, my store is closing 🙁
I work in like the pharmacy corner of Philly. The hospital down the block has its own outpt. pharmacy so we don't get that many people from there. Plus a walgreens a block away, a CVS a block away, and another Rite Aid 2 blocks away.

Seriously I know a place in Philly where 2 Rite Aids are practically across the street (I think Chestnut and 15th or 16th or so for people that know Philly). Only Starbucks can pull that off.

And Six Flags going out of business? This is bad.

Naw they will probably get bailed out by the government and give themselves huge bonuses.....

Wow...Sbarro, Blockbuster, Krispy Cream.....

The end was inevitable for Blockbuster. For my movie and video game rentals, I use Netflix and Gamefly.

true story. They are doing everything to keep afloat, they cut the hours the pharmacy is open on saturdays, they close at 6 now, except for certain stores. Its a sad thing to be a rite aid employee
