Road to dentistry?

I am a current Freshmen and I am thinking about becoming a dentist.

I was wondering what is the process after getting into dental school 4 years of dental school and then residency? or do you just become a dentist without one.

I am not aware of much so any help would be appreciated

After your 4 years of dental school you will be able to practice general dentistry. If you have the grades and want to specialize that is when you will do residency. For example ortho, oral surgery, ect. all require additional 3-4+ years after you are finished with the 4 years of dental school.
