I just decided to go for pharmacy instead of med 3 wks ago and kind of new to all this stuff. I know I'm a little behind in applying and still need to take the PCATs and some pre-reqs. It would be great if you guys can help me out! What schools do rolling admissions? I'm planning to apply for...

U of Kentucky
U of Maryland
U of Minnesota
U of Buffalo
Virginia Commonwealth U
U of Washington

Also thinking about some of these schools...
Midwestern (Chicago)
Creighton
U of Colorado
Palm Beach Atlantic
St. John Fisher
Wingate
Lake Erie

Inputs on these schools would also be nice too!! thanks!

ONE LAST QUESTION. What are the chances of getting into these pharm schools? I still have about 15 credits I need to take and planning to get it done before summer. My overall GPA is 3.51. Haven't taken the PCATs yet. For pharm experience, I worked at CVS for 3 mos. I also went to Africa with a medical mission team and helped out at the pharmacy there. (Does that count? Where can I put it on my PharmCas applic?) I have some volunteer hours in shock trauma and shadowing OBGYN dr.
I worked at some drs office. (Do these medical field experience count also???)

I know, long entry and lots of questions!!

I think you are very competitive so far but the admissions decision will also factor in your PCAT scores. So you might want to wait to see your PCAT scores before asking about the advice. Plus, it is impossible to predict who is the most successful candidate. You have to be well-rounded, and so far it seems that you meet that criteria. All the medical experiences count and look positive on any pharmacy application. It shows that you can work with the patients and have an idea what it means to be in a health care field.

Hey! I decided about three weeks ago also that I wanted to pursue pharmacy as well. I turned down a couple of medical school acceptances and I am happy with my decision. Pharmacy seems like a much better fit for me. Good luck with everything!!!🙂

good luck to you too~~ im sure you'll have no problem getting in if you got into medical school~~

I got into Creighton and Wingate with a lower GPA and no pharmacy experience. I did have a high PCAT, decent essays, and good LORs (I think) surrounded by four years of college work. I think that a good PCAT score would at least get you a look from those schools.

The last time I checked, Wingate isn't really rolling admissions and Creighton is more of a delayed rolling admissions. Creighton says that they are rolling but they really don't review the bulk of their applicants until after December with all of the interview sessions occuring during and after January. You don't want to wait until near the deadline if you're in the middle of the pack stats wise but it's not like you're doomed if your application isn't completed by November.

I know for sure that Buffalo, LECOM and Saint John Fisher are on rolling admissions. Maryland is not. (I'm applying to all of these schools as well 🙂) You seem very competitive, but PCAT will play a large role as well. Make sure you look into UB's way of interpreting the PCAT..they add up your percentiles (not including composite). It's strange.

Anyways, best of luck!!
