The equation for RMS of a has is Urms = SQRT(3kT/m) where k = gas constant, T = temperature and m= mass.
When doing conceptual problems you would say the root mean squared (speed) of a gas is inversely proportional to 1/sqrt(mass) at constant temperature.
If you use a particle with a constant mass would you say the the rms is directly proportional to sqrt(T) or to sqrt (3rT)? I am assuming it is just sqrt(T) because when evaluating changes constants don't matter?
