I was wondering whether or not rotations were stressful like school can be. Can you count doing a rotation as something like having a summer job. Do you have to do major projects that deal with what you learned or is it something so that you can just get experience and you aren't really tested on it. If people can give me their opinion on which one they liked doing better: being in school or doing rotations that would be awesome.

Thanks

Well, for me I like rotations more. I actually am out in the real world doing things I learned. And yes, at least at my school, you have major projects to do. At least 1 case presentation per rotation, journal clubs, DI papers, and much more. So, you are doing a lot more than you would in a summer job.

It all depends on the rotation. Community rotation was like working. Medicine rotation was not only stressful with early hours..and rounding with medical team in the morning, then following the patients...then meeting with preceptors and other students in the afternoon made for a really long day.

Every rotation required a presentation. Medicine/Psych/administration/AmCare all required numerous reports, projects and presentations. It wasn't a cakewalk. Then again, I guess it all depends on the school and the quality of rotations.

I also participated in an internation pharmacy research.. where USC sent a few of us overseas.

I like being out on rotations much, much better than being in class. All the information is coming together for me more so now than when I was sitting in a classroom listening to lectures. Yeah, there are projects that must be done on every rotation, but the kind of stress I feel from them is different from the stresses from the didactic portion of my pharmacy education.

I feel for the most part rotations are more stressful than being in school. You've got lots of papers to write, answers to give upon direct questioning, presentations, projects, time constraints. Studying during rotations is very different than studying for a multiple choice exam. SOmetimes I felt like these wasn't enough time in the day to finish everything. Depending on your rotation, your hours can be long. One rotation I was there 7-3, another I was there 7-6 or 7 o'clock. Then by the time you get home you still need to finish your stuff for the next day plus get to sleep on time.

But it really all depends on your rotation and especially your preceptor, if they decide to give you alot of extra work on top of your school requirements.
