Hi guys,

My cGPA and sGPA are currently 3.68 and 3.72 respectively. Since I won't be applying until next June of 2017, will it be worth the effort taking some more classes to raise my gpa up to 3.7 and 3.75 ? Will it look better on my application ?

Yes, it's always worth the effort. No, it won't matter.

It's always good to actually put effort into things, even if they don't matter. That way, you're accustomed to giving your all and then when the time comes that it does matter there won't be as much pressure to perform.

How much do you bench brah? 372? Dude, if you push harder you can reach 375 and round to 380. It'll be wayyyy moar sexy.

Sure, why not. I guess the only thing that would be hurting is your wallet and your time off.. Honestly I don't think the small 0.1 bump in GPA is that big of a deal assuming the rest of your application is fine.

Higher is always better.

Did you graduate already? If so, I don't think taking extra classes is really worth the effort/time/money.

You won't be penalized for having a 3.68 vs a 3.7. I think adcoms are smart enough to know they are essentially the same.

I have yet to graduate. If I were to stay part-time for the next year, that would bring my GPA up to around 3.72 and 3.76~3.77 for sGPA. Of course it will hurt my wallet and time, but I do value my chance of getting accepted way more than money.

I think the X hours a week and Y dollars would be better spent somewhere else, depending on your application. I mentally round everything (assume others do too), so a 0.02 GPA bump (~0.5% increase) seems less dramatic then 40 more hours with some organization you're part of. The GPA gain is rounding error territory. Example: if you have 200 hours, you have a 20% bump by contributing another 10 weeks/40 hours; or if you start a new one, you have a lot of new things you could experience; or a new part time job where you're getting experience and money [scribing, etc].

But I'm personally averse to spending money for such little gain. If you were really drawn to the courses it would be one thing, but all you've mentioned so far is the GPA bump. That said, the GPA bump would look better then a summer getting your tan on, or Netflix binging.

I can see that a small increase in cGPA from 3.68 to 3.70 isn't much, however, my sGPA has the potential to increase from 3.7 to 3.75, which I think is quite significant, don't you think ? Again money isn't really a problem for me since I will be working and attending school part-time.

If you want to do it, friggin' do it.
