depends on lots of things. Full time, part time, and/or what state you're in.

It also depends on which company you go through.

Through the AOA a full time practicing OD pays about $1000 per year. (it's more in certain counties/state and less in others)

I would say that it can vary from $400 for an individual to more than $1,000 for a practice which includes business insurance (contents).

I remember paying around $300+ when I was just out of school 8 years ago so adjusted for inflation and greed means $400+. 😀

my wife and I pay about $2400 per year. That covers both of us wherever we practice (malpractice), coverage of our equipment (Gdx, Retinal camera, etc.), general liability (2 mill/4mill), auto coverage (workers doing company business) plus theft, money if we are forced to close/relocate (been there, done that thanks to Hurricane Rita) plus some other stuff. We get it through Zurich North America "optometric protecter plan".

Your first year out you get a discount and get to pay the same as someone practicing part-time. For me it was about $350.

I just renewed last month and it was $700. (full time) If I were in Miami/Ft Lauderdale it would be more than double that.
