What are you guys thinking of doing in terms of accommodations? Are you thinking of living in residence, or renting a house/flat?

I really want to bring my cat over but it seems that private housing is more involved 🙁 ideally I’d want a flat. It would be helpful if anyone has any input on that!

Hi, I am a current 3rd-year student, and finding rentals around here that take pets can be challenging. There is an R(D)SVS Housing Exchange Facebook group and looking at Gumtree where there are more private landlords may be more successful. Most rental companies here require a UK-based guarantor but there is a scheme where the school will be your guarantor up to a certain price per month. On the other hand, some places will ask for rent to be paid up for 6 months if you have no UK guarantor.

I stayed in student housing my first year and was paired up with 2 other vet students and 1 other main university student then moved out my second year into private housing with other students. In addition, if you plan to move into a flat with 3 or more non-related people it must have an HMO license so sometimes those can be more difficult to find and lots of people are quick to snatch them up. Some students in my class went straight to private housing their first year and some were in student housing for a year and used that time to plan and bring their pets over and search for pet-friendly rentals. Hope that helps some 🙂

Very helpful thank you!! I’m still not totally decided yet but I’m trying to figure out the process.

Any current students still lurking that would be willing to chat about the program? I’m deciding between Edi and a stateside school (oos) and I’m hoping to get some advice.

Currently a first year GEP, people can PM me if they want to ask any questions, fair warning don't know how the turn arounds on reply will be considering time difference and how busy the time of year is here 🙂

Thanks for the info!! I'll have to start looking into it more seriously once the final project period of this semester has calmed down
