Hi All,

I'm taking the Step 1 this week and I've heard a lot about the crazy site rules .... for example... if you wear layers, you can't take off/put on a layer during the exam, only during a break ... you can't bring water in the room... stuff along those lines. Does anyone know a link to a list of the test site rules? Thanks so much!

I do know that you can only bring in your ID with you to computer when you sit down, rest is left in your locker, nothing else, not even tissues, as for what to do with your clothes I'm not sure (just make sure to wear some, jk).

Another one is don't go to your site beforehand and check it out. I felt bad for a guy in my class. He went inside the prometric office the day of my test, his test was scheduled the next day. He was basically told that he absolutely could not look around and better leave quickly because otherwise she would have to report it and it would get written into his report. He left very quickly.

I think its a bit ridiculous that such rules exist but they are not conveyed to test takers in advance. I know if it were me that had checked out the site in advance (and I would've had it been open the day before) that I would've been a wreck about the ordeal until my exam was over.

what?? no tissues allowed? any advice what I should do, have a cold/hay fever and my test is next week.....that is bad news!! 😕
are you really sure that no tissues are allowed inside?
thank you for any advice 🙂

Maybe they could supply some tissues if you were really having a problem? Some rules vary by test site, so if you want to be certain it's probably best to call your local site if you have specific questions.

good idea, thank you! I will call the center right tomorrow morning (Germany)!
good night 😴 (enough gardia lamblia, PKD and lines of Zahn for today!)

Just make sure to wear a shirt with either a long tail or really baggy sleeves... possibly multiple layers so you can take the outer snotty one off and put it in your locker at each break. 🙁

Yeah def no tissues, whatever layers you wore into the room had to be left on until you took a break (then you could put whatever into your locker), and absolutely nothing in your pockets. The tissues thing was pretty ridic, they provided them put they weren't in the testing room with you 😕
