I am currently at the University of Calgary, and am interested in becoming an optometrist. I am going to take my pre-req here in Calgary, and then apply to Waterloo in 3 years. Today i was speaking with some of my classmates, two of which are intersted in doing optometry as well. One mention that he heard that Simon Fraser (in British Columbia) had gotten aproval to teach optometry, and that the school would likely be ready in 4 years. Has anyone heard anything like this before?

Thanks,
Jared

I don't have much to offer but I have heard similar rumours. You should know though that I heard the rumours 7 or 8 years ago.

It is true. The school is in the works. There has been plenty of discussion on another optometry school in Canada (Especially west coast) over the last few years but it will be a reality within the next 5 years. Hope this helps.

What town in Canada?

Without evidence of a news release of some kind, I wouldn't believe this at all. Yes its been discussed forever, but noone has commited any money and especially now that UW continues to increase enrollemnt 50% from 2002 its even less likely.
