Rush Medical College Interview Advice, Please!!!

Hi All,

I just scheduled my interview at Rush, and I went to check the Interview Feedback on SDN...but it seems pretty bleak for this interview season (only two interview feedback entries for this application cycle)!

I wanted to start this thread to get some thoughts/comments/advice on interviews at Rush. If you have advice for me as I start to prepare for my interview, please feel free to share. Are there certain types of questions I should be prepared to answer? Is Rush big on ethical questions? In my interview confirmation email, they explain that there is one Open File interview and one Co-Curricular File interview. If anyone can shed some light on how to prepare for Rush interviews, I would really appreciate it!

Do you remember what was the first date available to schedule your interview? I mean I want to know how far they have gone till now!!!

Yep -- the first available date was Wednesday, January 10th. The other interview dates in January were all on Wednesdays.

It totally depends on the interviewer. Pretty standard interviews, from what I could tell. The school itself did not seem to have any overriding theme or strategy in terms of interviews. Just the regular stuff: Why medicine? Explain this ___ from your application ..., one person asked me how I would respond if I made a mistake as a physician. But you pretty much have to be ready to answer the basic questions: Why medicine, and why Rush.

Some of the interviewers are heavy ethical questions based. I remember being questioned on stem cells, AIDS (quarantining victims), condoms in prisons, life balance, etc

This was after an initial Why medicine, why Rush, and the standard questions.
