Rutgers 0-6 Pharm Program or TCNJ pre-med?

Hello, I'm a senior in high school. I have already been accepted to and ENROLLED into TCNJ with a biology major. And today I have just been accepted to Rutger's 0-6 Pharmacy Program. I felt very shocked. For the rutgers, I would spend 2 years at Rutgers NEWARK and then 4 years at NEW BRUNSWICK pharm school. With the TCNJ route, I'd spend 4 years or whatever how long it takes to finish college, and then apply to med school the traditional way. I've always wanted to become a doctor, but rutgers pharm program is one of the best and I'd be able to have a less stressful life there. I'd only have to maintain a 2.8 gpa. I know that becoming a doctor is going to be a hell of a lot more stressful, but if i really want it i shud go for it right? I'm not 100% staked on becoming a doctor though. I need more time in college to figure it out. What do you think?

Go for the pre-med program. If you're unsure of whether you want to be a pharmacist now, going into a 6-year program is a bad idea (very tough to get out of it). Besides, if you decide that you still want to go into pharmacy, just apply to a graduate school after undergrad. By doing pre-med, you'll keep your options open. Also, if you really want to become a doctor and know the downfalls of the job going in, I'd say pre-med every time.

You just answered your own question. Enrolling in a 0-6 PharmD program doesn't exactly give you time to figure out what you want to do. Trust me, you do not want to be in one of these programs unless you are 100% sure you want to be a pharmacist (I speak from personal experience).

For clarification, your first two years would just be taking undergrad science classes at Rutgers Newark. It would be quite easy to get out of the pharm program within the first two years. Just declare a major at rutgers newark and carry on with life

I went to rutgers newark and did a lot of research up the street at UMDNJ. Having the med school and attached hospital less than ten blocks away is a big advantage if interested in any health career

Yeah if you can get out and do the 4 year tract to a B.S. @ rutgers choose rutgers. It is a very good pharm school and with no obligation into the program until your 3rd year you have time to figure out if you wana be a doctor. At least you'll have a guaranteed professional degree if you choose you don't want to be a MD.
