The professor posted the grade distribution for the intro Bio. class today. This is pre-final and pre-incorporation of the lab score.

Class size: 144
Mean: B-/C+
A or A-: 7 (< 5%)

Looks like a pretty good curve to me.

Although the mean looks alright, it seems that the standard deviation is too low. Most classes have more than 5% As.

It all depends how the prof sets it. I'd prefer to see something more like 10/20/40/20/10 but if it's 5% As/5% Fs, that definitely works.... I think, in general, we tend to give out too many As. At least this prof is reversing that trend a bit.
