Hey guys, so I was wondering if there are any other anxious souls like me, who know that they are on the agenda for today's admissions committee meeting at RWJMS, and are waiting for any hint of news.

So far, I have gotten nothing. So what is the timeframe for getting good news? I got an email at 1PM from Ms. Kramer, but just telling me that orientation sessions are now being held in Piscataway for the month of April. I guess this was a follow-up email from her response yesterday. Then again, could this mean either waitlist or acceptance? Wouldn't she or Dr. T have called already?

Don't be shy to share your sentiment as I feel that I am the only who cares at this point! Good luck to you all that are still waiting like me!!!

I got the same email.

I was waitlisted but I didn't get an email from RWJ

The first line of the email says "Dear RWJMS Class Of 2012". Maybe they are trying to tip you off.

I don't think they call until later anyway. I got called at like 7:30 probably... also she called my house phone. I was sitting with my cell all night thinking I didnt get in because I got no phone call. When I came home my mom told me that RWJ called! So hopefully you will get called this evening!

when i got my call, it was about 6pm

Was this the day of the adcom was meeting to all of you who got the acceptance call?

It's 9 PM and I have gotten nothing...😕

Is there still hope? I still believe, though.

maybe you should go for a run before you have an aneurysm.

Dean T called me ~ 9:30 p.m because she got caught in traffic. 😀

10:37 PM, nothing as of now, so I guess I am going to accept reality...

I could be wrong, but isn't the class full?

Yes, but people withdraw, etc., and that frees up the class size somewhat. It also matters when you interviewed. Your chance of acceptance interviews indirectly w/ the proximity of your interview date to April 1st.

I did not quite copy your last sentence.

I Had My Interview Last Monday. They Did Not Mention Anything About The Class Being Full. Do You Know This As A Fact? Did They Only Interview Me For A Waitlist? .how Long Does It Take Them For A Response? THEY HAD LIKE 30 INTERVIEWS SHEDULED FOR THE MONTH OF MARCH

Here's what I know. Nobody else seemed to be waiting attentively last night for a call and I didn't get one. It could mean three things: Dr. T wasn't calling, all who were on the agenda got waitlisted (hopefully not), or no SDNers was on it with me. I do not know what to say...

Lets Try To Relax And Wait. You Are Not Alone. BTW, DR. T TOLD ME SHE WOULD BE OUT OF TOWN FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK STARTING WED.

Chaicos,

Thanks for the news. I am not going to say I do not believe what you said, but this came from either Dr. T or Ms. Krame, right? So what does this mean then if I was scheduled to be on the agenda yesterday? No news?

I agree. How do you know for a fact that they call every accepted student right after the adcom meets and reviews their file? Chill my friend... All i can tell you is that DR. T mentioned that she was going out of town for the rest of the week. I am an out of state applicant and she was going to my home town.

probably wasnt calling

Hey CubaLibre,

I see that you had your interview @ RWJ on 2/8. Mine was on 2/21 and I was wondering if you were expecting something as well. Maybe hope is not lost after all...

well i am expecting a decision at some point, but i do suspect it's going to be bad news. my interview went pretty poorly and it wasn't even intended to be a stress one. we just didn't click at all. i still dont think anyone got called yesterday though. soon we'll know

Yeah I wouldn't get too crazy about this until you actually receive a letter that states you aren't accepted.

It is a good sign, though, that no one else was called last night.

I know this is a very nail-biting experience for all you guys waiting on RWJ. For all intended purposes, their class is full, but like the person before me said, it's not worth fretting over prior to hearing back from RWJ.

Okay, so who is your source on this? Mind you, there was a backlog of applicants and interviews scheduled for March and April. Moreover, there is one SDNer that I know of who has her interview scheduled for the 11th of April. My only thing is that this news is true and that you do not incorrectly deflate the hopes of those who have yet to have heard, including myself.

The class is usually full by February. I'm not trying to deflate your hopes, things might have changed since I was admitted, but I would at least entertain the idea that you may end up on the alternate list and think about a possible back up plan if that does happen.

I hope everything works out for you.

You are Taylormade.. 😀

In addition to the Dr. T call, I received an acceptance email the morning after.

I read your profile; you are a very qualified applicant who should get into medical school on your own merit alone. However, this cycle has been pretty tight, and a lot of qualified applicants like yourself end up being disappointed (me too). But it's only healthy to look forward and, like the person who said after me, at least entertain the "waitlist letter" thought.

Once again, all the best to you!

So I was reading this quote from AAMC website:

The AAMC recommends that:

"By March 30 of the matriculation year, each school have issued a number of offers of acceptance at least equal to the expected number of students in its first-year entering class and have reported those acceptance actions to the AAMC Section for Medical School Application Services."

So, for us who have had interviews and no decision received, what should we make of this?

no worries, its not march 30th yet

Hi everyone,

So I just got a call from my mother at home. I just received a letter from Dr. T at RWJMS. While I didn't get an acceptance call, the letter wasn't for the waitlist either. Actually, she notified me that my application has been selected to be among the very competitive category. A decision regarding acceptance or placement on the alternate list will be made in April, 2008. The letter was dated March 26, 2008. I was wondering if there is anyone who was a very competitive applicant what are the chances of an acceptance at this point for RWJMS. I still believe and that there is hope. I look forward to great news.

That seems like an odd thing to notify you of. "We've decided that we can't decide." Hmmm. In this awful process, that's just wrong. I'm pulling for ya, man, and I hope you get some good news come April.

I sent an email to admissions thursday. They told me that the class is full. All the late interviews are for an alternate list. Still, they say that "most" of the alternate list gets offer an acceptance.

Lets wait and wait. I have been waiting for years.. A few more weeks should be fine. Rigth?? maybe not..
Good luck to you all 🙂

Hey chaicos,

Good luck to you too. Did you get a very competitive status letter? That's what I got so essentially it's gonna be acceptance into nirvana or perpetual purgatory.

Nope. I had my interview on March 24. I read your other post. You are still on the game. Remember, that letter says that you are either accepted or on an alternale list. according to admissions alternate list makes it "most" of the times.

Do you have a plan B?
I really like the school. It is my number one. I also have family in the area. Thank god I have another acceptance. Still, I want to go there so bad.

stay possitive ok,

a few years ago i remember a few of my late-interview friends who received that letter. apparently it is not uncommon. one of my friends who got the letter decided to go somewhere else and the other one was waitlisted. ironically, even though the letter said that he was "very competitive", he wasn't on the high priority waitlist, and he ended up not coming off. he had no plan B, but by some miracle, he heard from another school on the first day of classes.

sorry to disappoint you, but i just thought to tell you this so that you devise a plan B starting from now, before it's too late. otherwise not only do you not get into medschool this time around, but also jeopardize your chances as a reapplicant.

After or Before your interview, when you were at RWJMS did you attend the meeting where Dr. T and Ms. Kramer spoke to the applicants? Almost all the questions you constantly ask were answered by them. On top of that the questions are answered in previous posts in the NJ forums from this year, last year etc. I would TRY a little bit to find answers to your questions, then if you still cant find an answer post away.

I was in the very competitive category. I was told I would hear something by February but didn't actually hear anything until mid March. Once you are in this category one of three decisions can be made: acceptance, high priority alternate list and alternate list. Since the class is already full it is not likely you will get a direct acceptance at this point. In past years, the high priority alternate list have all been offered an acceptance as others withdraw. The regular alternate list is then offered the remaining spots if there are any.

Hope that helps.

jdecoast,

Hey, I do not want you to take this in the wrong way, but the only reason I am asking these questions is because I never attended an actual orientation session and tour. As you know, RWJMS has them only on Mondays at Piscataway and Fridays at New Brunswick (but it is also Piscataway for the month of April). My interview was on a Thursday in late February. I did meet with Ms. Porter after the interview albeit it was only for about 20 minutes. I have been in contact with them via email and I will attend one in April, probably one of the last two Fridays.

I know I could email Ms. Kramer and Dr. T about what they are going to say about the very competitive category. I, however, want to gauge from fellow SDNers their own experiences too, something I don't I will get officially from the school itself. It is not that I do not trust the school, but it also helpful to get a student perspective on the process. I hope you understand where I am coming from.

In the end, I wish you good luck and maybe we can laugh this off in the future about our current situation!!

I think you'd be much better off emailing Ms Kramer to inquire about the list. They would tell you straight up what was going on this year: where there have been a lot of drops this year or not and how many applicants they anticipating pulling off of high priority list

Not to mention continued expression of interest to those two can't hurt

Anybody else wearing to hear back from RWJMS this month and are in the very competitive category with a decision of acceptance or placement on the alternate list coming soon?
