How will Saddam Hussein's arrest affect my chances of being accepted to medical school? I have an interview this week and I think that that might just be the sort of weird question they pull on me!

It won't affect that any more than it will affect the number of US soldiers being killed each day there - which is to say, not at all. It's simply nice to see the Iraqi people have control over the creep.
I hope they sock it to him :meanie:

my God chill. It's not awesome enough that the Iraqi people finally have their despot captured... you have to go ask how it'd influence your medical school interviews 🙄

continually amazed by things I see on SDN...

Uh, to the credit of the OP, I think the post was meant to be sarcastic. This thread was started by the same guy who created a thread about popping an erection during an interview. Chill

Hey, come on now. We're supposed to be future doctors, we're not supposed to crack jokes or be sarcastic. 🙄

Well, I suppose the only direct effect this could have on medical school admissions is that now that he's in custody, there could be a significant military scaledown. In the long term, this could lead to lower recruitment in the military, and lower HPSP scholarships available, which could affect admissions as far as who could afford to go to medical shcool without it. But even that line of reasoning is a stretch.

Maybe the military will lower the criteria for awarding scholarships/grants to med school students.
