Yea I’m happy where I am but if that changes I’d be interested. This seems like a good job… but San Angelo isn’t for everyone. Have yall looked into letting people job share - be .5 or 2 for 3 (.67) so they get more vacation or the opportunity to 1099 locums elsewhere -

CRNAs cover OB. Some of the CRNAs left the OR full time to go cover OB all the time. From what one of them told me.
Yeah, that’s so they can hang out with their OB nurse friends all day. No thanks!

We have several on a 0.5 FTE track.

OB is not mentioned in the listing. Is that part of the case mix?

8 years I’ve never done an OB case. No plans I know of for that to ever change. You could probably pick up shifts or arrange something that is an interest.

Ah I did some locums out there when I first got started a couple years ago, 2022 I think. $250/hr. Did they get pyxis machines or is it still the box of meds from pharmacy? They didn't have epic when I was there, all paper charting.

Omnicell machines. The caboodle boxes went away!

We use boxes at one of our surgicenters. We call them party packs.
That's what we called the packs we got in residency for trauma cases that had everything. During work hours, we'd walk up to the pharmacy and ask for the party pack, after hours, we'd check out a "trauma pack" from the pyxis outside the room. It was before in room pyxis.

This is one of the “collaborative” jobs right? That seems like the main downside if true. Feels like that would be 8:1 supervision except as a bonus you’re also in your own room. That being said the pay is good, taxes are low, and the cost of living is cheap so that’s an appealing triad for many even as a short term thing.

No supervision. We are responsible for our cases and only our own cases.

no. it’s solo md.

Soviegn immunity? If the hospital is paying??

Would join in a heartbeat. These guys will have no trouble staffing. No OB and this much pay for a w-2 job in a low tax state. 😍

Man. I hope u guys are ok with the floods in central Texas.
I flew out from San Angelo early Friday morning during the storm. I was surprised the flight left the little airport, when I got to DFW, I started seeing flood damage in San Angelo from friends on Facebook, then when I got to Milwaukee, I saw the horror in Kerrville.

I am praying for everyone down there.
