Is there any truth to dental schools opening up here by AT Still University and UCSD? I know AT will put one in Kirksville but I think they said they might put another branch campus in San Diego. I'm not sure about the UCSD one though.

if this is true, it's gonna get shot down really quickly.

from what i understand though, the san diego site was in the running but it was beaten out by kirksville just bc the demand was higher in missouri.

I had always heard both Kirksville and San Diego talked about with certainty but that Kriksville would be first. Wonder if they're really going to make opening this year with Kirksville. I'm not sure what happened there.

Also, MOSDOH was going to originally be a branch of ASDOH but they decided to make it a separate school. San Diego could very well just be an ASDOH branch. They're very much on the way to making it happen. The completion of the ASDOH Special Care Clinic is big step in that direction. I think it's already operating. Love the duds, Jack.

I have heard similar things as Jeffity. It sounds like they are definitely planning on opening a SD location. However, i have not heard any dates thrown around.

I am really starting to wonder about MOSDOH too. However, i was just told at an ASDOH workshop that they should get their initial accreditation this month and will start holding interviews. Even this late in the cycle, i don't think they will have a problem filling their small class.

I heard that they're aiming to open in 2015 from Dr. Jack Dillenberg. He's currently the dean of ASDOH so I guess it's credible.

that would be terrible. the southern california market is already way too saturated.

I went to the ucsd pds meeting when the dean of ASDOH was speaking and he said hopefully in 2014 or 2015 to get a dental school in San Diego. That is right from his mouth. And I 10000% agree that there are wayyyyy to many dentist in San Diego it's horrible. Great for shadowing though haha

That's the attitude! Find the positive!

They're going about it the right way (whether it's good or not). The foot's in the door with the local scene and officials. The name is present. At least one faculty member on site. Rotating students on site. So sneaky! And hitting up the underserved. I don't keep track these days, but there seemed to be a pretty heavy flow from UCSD over the years. Now they can stay and serve their community in school and after! Everyone wins! How can they say no? Dr. Dillenberg is all over the map speaking here, speaking there, receiving this award and that award...he's taking over the whole scene!

What would that make....7 schools in CA?

It would be a huge dream of mine to attend this school in San Diego. Such a HUGE dream.
