Hello Everyone, 🙂

I graduated from Purdue in 2001 with a BS in industrial technology. since then i worked in technical support, tried running my own business, and now am considering applying for dental school... with no science courses whatsoever ...

My GPA from Purdue was a little below a 2.5 ... 🙁 I know I would be an exception to the rule if I were to get into dental school. I also need to still take o-chem, bio, anat and phys to meet the requirements.... and possibly even more upper level science courses to offset my poor undergrad GPA ???...

would going to a formal post-bac program be much more advantageous than going to a 4yr university to fulfill these classes? would this help me get into dental school? if so .. would you know of any schools that I would be able to attend based on my credentials?

Im living in san diego right now .. but may have to move to Tennessee because of financial reasons .. but my parents may be willing to help me out if I stay in TN .. so TN or CA are my locations for taking my pre-reqs ..

Id like to start as soon as possible .. im pushing 30yrs old ... (27 old) even this January if I can .. hope to hear from anyone really soon ... thanks so much .. God bless ..~

You might want to do a search on the discussion of formal post-bac courses vs. courses taken informally at accredited 4-yr universities. Because of your 2.5 gpa, it's imperative that you do very well in any courses taken from now on.

Check out this site for more information on post-bac opportunities in your area:

ps,
27 is NOT old.

Okay, you are not old. Stop that...pushing 30 bit. I am 26 and I just started my post bacc program, pre med. Its not easy but you can do it with a little bit of sacrifice. YOU ARE MOST CERTAINLY NOT AN OLD MAN!

Ease up on the age thing -
I am 29 and JUST started my MS post-bac.
In my class there are several 40's+ (or at least a few Keith Richards looking mid 30 year olds.)
Life is not from point A to point B. - Rather it is comprised of all the amazing things that you do in between - cradle to the grave.
Relax - get yourself in a post-bac, and never utter that age phrase again.
P.S> I will need cosmetic veneers in like 5 years so hurry up and get started.
