hey just heard a rumor, of a dental school in san diego that gives you a dental degree in 3 yrs. anyone hear of the samething?

I've never heard of such a school. I also know in the Offical Guide to Dental school there is no such school.

Yeah I believe you pay 30K a year for 3 yrs and recieve your degree in the mail 😀 . I go to school in SD and there is no such school although I wouldn't be surprised if UCSD opens a dental school in the next few yrs since they already have pharm, med, business management, and undergrad all in place. Dental school in SD = Paradise! Plus the Pre-Dent Society at UCSD is well known by many deans and professionals!

no.. never heard of sd dental school.. but there are rumors about university of phoenix dental. it's gonna be the first online dental school!

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but SDSU's Pre-Dental Club farrrr surpassesss UCSD Predental Club...Even UCSD grads here at the school say so 👍

UCSD pre-dental club:

SDSU pre-dental club:

Also check out this website: http://www.sdsuniverse.info/story.asp?id=22500
It says "In the past five years alone, 70 students from SDSU's program have been accepted into dental schools nationwide." UCSD will put more than 70 this year alone. In fact I'm willing to bet that UCSD will put more students into dental school than any other university.

Fact of the matter is, deans of all the dental schools come to visit the UCSD pre-dental club and tour our amazing student run free clinics. Some are so impressed that they have accepted almost all of our students who applied to their schools. Case in point, I believe we have 5 students going to Arizona, which has only about 60 seats and gets over 3000 applicants.

Anyway take a look at the websites, read the newsletters and judge for yourself.

BYU sends nearly 200 a year. I wouldn't bet to much if I were you. I am sure that UCLA and U of U send more than UCSD too

Wow, the UCSD pre-dental club is pretty amazing! I can't believe that so many deans go to give talks - makes me wish that I were a pre-dent at UCSD.

I'd have to agree with Dirtie. As much as it pains me to say it, BYU's predental program rocks (it pains me because I go to the Univ of Utah). The state of Utah ranks 2nd in the nation in number of applicants but 35th in population in the U.S.

UOP is the only school in the country with a three year program. Great school!

Yeah your probably right, I forgot about the Utah schools in particular.
Fortunately I do not bet too much. You on the other hand should be careful with all those fine casinos in such close proximity

Umm, I'll take your bet because you'd lose. I know Brigham Young University places over 200 per year out of their undergrad predent program to every dental school in the country. As a D-school adcom member I've been told by at least a dozen dental schools--Case, Ohio State, UNC, VCU, UW, Iowa, Kentucky, OHSU to name a few--that BYU puts out the most acceptances they are aware of. Not to take away from UCSD, but that's only about 35% as much as BYU. Just a heads-up. 🙂

Seriously, what is it between Utah and dentistry? I don't see the connection? Is it a Mormon thing? Is a tooth on the state flag or sump'n? I don't get it.

Agreed. That's a pretty amazing website, with an impressive list of speakers. I wish i had that resource in college. I wonder if the harvard dean is making the trip there especially for that talk?
