Here's a totally panicky, anal-retentive, detail-obsessed question:

For those of you who took your MCAT recently at the San Jose Prometric center -- what kind of screens did they have? LCD? CRTs with refresh rates properly adjusted? Or horrific flickery CRTs? If they were flickery, did they let you adjust it to the proper refresh frequency (and I doubt they did *LOL*)?

Thanks for the help! GL with your tests/apps, everyone!

I was told that they have CRT's and that the testing center was 'good'. I am assuming this means no flickering. Hey when are you taking it? I'm taking it on the 5th so if its after i can let you know...

haha, no kidding? me too! 9/5, 8am. i'm such a night owl too... 😴

actually i just called them to ask. i felt like such a Crazy Pre-Med (tm), but the lady was very nice and said they have LCDs! w00t!

edit: dude, i just looked up your MDapp profile out of curiosity... it's more weird coincidences! i'm 25/f/asian-am/from cali. then again i suppose there are roughly 239847298679 20-something, female, asian-american, californian pre-meds out there 😛 are you applying this year or next? i was going to apply this year but it's getting so late i'm starting to consider doing it next round instead.

I took the test there on 7/10, its a pretty nice testing place. However watch your feet on the electrical plugs, its sort of in a weird place. My foot knocked it during verbal, and the ****in screen went dark, my heart jumped through my throat since I thought the timer was still going. Luckily when the proctor turned it back on the timer was at the same place, same place.

omfg... new MCAT-related horror story to have nightmares about...

weirdly i haven't had any MCAT nightmares yet. i remember back in high school before the AP exams i had all these bizarre nightmares about not being able to find my APUS History exam room... or finally finding it and realizing after an hour had elapsed that i was doing AP Plant Biology... 😕 or needing to go to the bathroom in the middle of the test and realizing the bathrooms were like a marathon distance away...

thanks for the tip though, turk! and GL to you, medskl!
