I've been offered a saturday for an interview date at a program. It just seems weird, I hadn't heard of Saturday interviews before. Anyone else have a Saturday date? Is there any disadvantage to interviewing on a weekend? I'd think you may not get the full feel of the place b/c less people will be around.

One program confirmed an interview date for me on Dec 17th (a Saturday) when I requested a Nov 17th interview, among other dates. It was simply a typo in the e-mail, however, and I had to call to make sure.

I think it's weird that busy attendings would come in on a Saturday to interview applicants. Most residents aren't there on the weekend, also. AND you don't get to see the true environment of the hospital on a Saturday. I would double check it, or try to change it? Up to you I guess!

Maybe this is a blessing in disguise... at least if you're really interested in the program or the location. Spend Saturday interviewing and learning about the program. Hang out on Sunday and see what the town/city has to offer... then go in on Monday and hang with a team to do a second look, just to see how the gruntwork is done there. It may be a little pricey but it could be worth the trip if you're really interested in the place/program.
