According to first aid, staphylococcal exotoxins that cause scalded skin syndrome "destroy keratinic attachments in stratum granulosum only".

A UWorld explanation states that the exotoxins act as a protease and cleave desmoglein in desmosomes.

Both FA and Pathoma teach that desmosomes are in the stratum spinosum layer. Therefore, UWorld is stating that the exotoxins work at the stratum spinosum layer, while first aid says they work at the granulosum layer.

Is there a way to remedy this?
