I noticed the AAMC11 scaling for VR. I got only 5 wrong out of 40, and that was an 11? Seems like pretty steep scaling to me.

I got about the same score I usually get on diagnostics (11 or 12) for VR, but this exam seemed to have a stricter scale. Any ideas?

I don't think so. 5 wrong is at best 12 on any any practice test, and 11 on many. It has to be that way because it's just too hard to separate the ones at the top if you make the scale any easier. After all, you can only make reading comprehension so hard before you start making questions literally unanswerable.

Yeah I guess that makes sense. I just never realized that the scaling was so diff't for VR versus PS/BS.

There's a link on the left of e-mcat that reads "How is the MCAT scored?". It shows you the raw score cutoffs for each of the AAMC practice tests, so you can see that 5 wrong in verbal is generally borderline between 11 and 12.
