I just wanted to create a thread for those of us still waiting to hear back from SCCO. If there is anything to share in regards to the waitlist, please post below! Good luck to us!

Hi! I'm also waiting to hear back. Did you ask what quartile you're in?
 
I am in the 3rd quartile! I wonder where they are on the list now. I know last year everybody got off the waitlist but, this year is unpredictable

I’m not sure if they’ve started yet, but hopefully we get some activity this week, since May 15th was the deadline for people to make their final decisions!
 
No news yet...Has anyone either heard back yet or asked admissions if they’ve started accepting off the waitlist?

They never told me a specific time, but technically, we can hear back at anytime between now and orientation day in August.

I’m surprised that there hasn’t been more activity given that May 15th has already passed. I know this year is unlike any other, but previous years had consistently been notified as early as early/mid May.
 
Yeah, that's what it seemed like from reading old threads! Maybe we can give them a call to ask if there's been any updates?

Hi all! I just gave them another call and they said the class is pretty much full and it is pretty unlikely that it is going to move. They also said the alternate list is the biggest they've ever seen. I'm going to take a gap year and reapply -- let me know what you guys plan on doing!

This year has definitely proven to be unlike any other year

Unfortunately, I don’t have a backup school, so I suppose I’ll just keep my fingers crossed that I’ll hear something by August. If not, optometry school will be put on hold for another year.
 
I actually wanted to re-clarify my position on the waitlist to give people a better idea of how it’s been working out.

I was told on May 1st that I was put into a special group “above the 1st quartile.” Along with this, I was offered an option for priority deferment SCCO in fall 2021 (meaning I won’t have to re-apply).

I was actually offered priority deferment for Fall 2021 without needing to re-apply, but I’m not really looking forward to waiting another year :/

Oh that sounds pretty cool! But I agree, waiting another year isn't super ideal. Hope everything pans out well for you!
