What's good SDN.

Just looking for some advice on my upcoming semester schedule to see if I am doing too much or not.

Will be taking: Chem 1, Physics 1, and Psychology. Also working 15-25 hours a week, clinical volunteering 4 hours a week, non-clinical 2-4 hours (either weekly or bi-weekly), and leadership a few hours a week. What do you guys think?

Preciate any advice given.

Are you taking any other classes or just those three?

I'd say be careful about how much time you're spending on work/ECs. >33 hours a week is quite a bit. Chem 1 and physics 1 require a lot of time spent doing practice problems and can be quite difficult, especially if you don't have much background in them. Overall, I'd say it's possible, but be mindful of how you're doing in class and be willing to cut down a bit on ECs if you start to struggle.

What do you think would be a good amount of time to spend on EC's while also doing good in class?

The answer to this question really depends on you, your science background, and the rigor of your school. At my college, with reasonable science preparation in HS, I spent ~12 hours a week on chemistry / physics. So for those two classes—if one were to take them at the same time— that’s about 24 hours a week, including class time. For a class like psych, I’d probably spend 6 hours a week, including class time. That’s about 30 hours a week combined with the other two classes. And that’s the minimum, not during exam weeks.

So, right now you’re looking at over 60 hours of EC/work/class/study time per week. If it were me, I’d want to cut down on something so you can flex more time into the science classes if needed. If money is tight and you can’t decrease work, then cut down on ECs for now

Once again, you know yourself best, so definitely listen to your own hunches on this
