So I'm expecting to graduate Spring 2011 with a 3.3cGPA and 3.1sGPA. Lets assume i get like 32 on mcat. I can't take a 5th year at my university because of graduation/unit issues.

I'm planning on applying Summer 2011, and doing an informal postbac for one year. or should i work, volunteer(i have a couple hundred hours already), instead? Which would be better?

i also dont exactly understand postbac/med app timing. Lets say I get into a 1year postbac program. Am I suppose to apply to med school Spring 2011 or Sring 2012, after my postbac is complete? thanks for any help

In my humble opinion, you should do the postbac. Work experience is great but it won't save your GPA. I think your GPA is probably ok if you're only applying to Osteo but it won't cut it for allo. Even if you do have a 32 + MCAT (which I wouldn't assume either...I planned on getting that and fell short so study harder than I did!). You can volunteer at the same time as the postbac as well. I'm not sure how the timing would work out since I never had to do it but I do know that you definitely need to raise your GPA.

good luck!
