Spring 2008:

Cell Biology w/lab
General Chemistry 1
General Psychology (online)
Total: 16 hours

Although this is definitely subject to change, I'm exploring the options for summer classes at the CC, if they offer Cell Biology during their summer session I may do that. It would mean I could move up some of the other classes.

University of Minnesota Twin Cities:

Spring 2008 (current)
General Biology
Orientation to Pharmacy (online)

Summer 2008
College Algebra and Probability
(there is a limited number of classes offered in the summer)

Fall 2008
Principals of Chemistry

You guys who are taking 16 units and more science courses must be really smart or reallllly hard working!!

A lot of it has to do with time management too. In Pharm school you will be taking 15-18 units of science courses for the most part so it is a good idea to get a feel for the course load and many pharmacy schools like to see that students can handle a heavy course load during prereqs.

Summer 2008:
English Comp 2
American Gov't and Politics
=6 credit hours

Fall 2008:
Chem. 2 lecture
Chem. 2 lab
Biology lecture
Biology lab
Applied Calculus
Freshman Orientation (what is the purpose of this? I've already taken college classes.....)
World History
=16 credit hours

I've taken two semesters with 20+ units and I'll do it never again.

The question really is: Should you take lots of units to finish quickly and show your ability to handle a good load of courses, or should you take 12-13 units and get better grades? A 4.0 is possible taking 18 units and above, but not realistic for everyone.

Get good grades first time around, it is hard to change your gpa later. If it takes you a little longer to finish your classes, so be it. When are you planning applying to pharm school?

I'll be applying to pharmacy school this June, for Fall 2009. The only prerequisites I have left is microbiology, and microbiology lab. I'm also planning to retake calculus in the summer.

How about you, Idesiretosling, or anyone else?

dang your smart

I must say I was surprised to receive a compliment after your private message full of nasty words and name calling.

Thanks though, but actually my schedule this year was not shaped with regard to my intelligence. All 90 or so students in my class have the same schedule, there are not any electives the first year. So, I guess it is a compliment to my whole class and almost every first year pharmacy student.🙂 I am sure everyone appreciates it!
You should note though, a school schedule is not an indicator of intelligence. ("Obviously in my case" is the burn i would insert here) Just like having an expensive car is not an indicator of wealth.

Keep fighting the good fight man...and remember yazzman,

"Be calm in arguing; for fierceness makes error a fault, and truth discourtesy"

Serve you well as a pharmacist and in life.

Have a good evening.

Attempts at burns, should at least make some sense or be witty but to each their own....😀 Can't scold someone for trying.

Anyone have top schools? My top schools are UCSF, USC, UCSD, UOP, Western U, etc.

What are everyone else's?

CSS 450-Plant Breeding (LOL..I'm not much of a plant guy but it helps me understand the research I've been doing this past year)
PAC 271-Ultimate Frisbee

Maybe another interesting class, we'll see.

Nice to have a easy schedule for my last as an undergrad.:hardy:

honors seminar? how interesting. What is that exactly?
