Happy new year folks!
I'm going into 4th year and am looking at away rotations. I plan on doing up to 4, and this concern came up in my mind as I was browsing residency explorer for a program. It states they require at least 1 away rotation in the specialty, with a max of 3.
If I apply early, which will be when VSLO opens in a less than a few weeks, I would be presented with early dates: July, August, Sept. Lets say I agreed to do my aways at program A and B during July and August and some parts of September. During that time, I also applied to program C(the one mentioned in the first paragraph), which I requested a say December rotation despite them offerring July and August. When they recieve the ERAS application, they can see I chose to rotate at other rotations over them, and instead chose to rotate with them later on, I feel like it could be a bad look. It would also be fair to run free with the assumption I did another away in between ERAS submission and rotating at program C, making them the 4th away.
Am I overthinking thinking this?
Bonus question: the reason I want to do A and B is because they are in my school's city. They are not very far apart... at all. How would it look to do aways with such close proximity? My concern is coming off as frolicky.
I'm probably overthinking this, and I've been marinating on this for a week, and no matter how hard I tried I can't rid of the neuroticism, and I feel the need to ask for opinion here. Thank you for reading, I would love to have some thoughts on this little conundrum 😛
