is it better to schedule an interview date as early as possible or would i be at a disadvantage if i schedule a couple weeks later? im trying to schedule around work and such and am worried that there'll be more competition if i schedule later.

i was just thinking about how people were already accepted early after the first round of LECOM-erie interviews and thus fewer seats available

Early is always better, but if you can't do it then a few weeks won't kill you.

im just really worried about having adequate interview preparation time

Earlier is better and interview prep isn't really all that necessary. Go over a few questions, look over the school and formulate some questions the night before or even on the plane if you are flying (download their info book). Alot of the questions will probably be similar.

true, im probably worrying about this too much. i think the upcoming bradenton interview is making me anxious haha.

gonna go with earlier the better. thx for the responses!

Don't mean to threadjack but I REALLY want this problem!!!

When I interviewed at LECOM I didn't get a choice of interview times -it was assigned. Has that changed? As always, the earlier you get to interview the better chances for you since they try to fill their slots with the most qualified on paper first.

some schools give a choice and others do not. i was definitely afraid that postponing would lessen my chances and it does make sense from what you are saying

A couple of weeks will rarely make a difference. When the MCAT was only given twice a year there was definitely a late period. But, it doesn't really matter all that much at most schools these days if you are a highly-qualified applicant. They use their watlists very well. With rolling admisiions they only intend to offer a certain number of positions each month anyway. That way, they haven't filled up their class when better stuydents come along later in the cycle. Some schools are interviewing, and accepting, students all the way into April. Then, they start working the waitlist a little harder when accepted students drop their acceptances for some place else.

How does it work with trying to get someone's interview slot who withdrew? I have read on numerous threads where people say, "an interview is up for grabs on x day because I am withdrawing." Can I just call the school and ask if there are earlier openings? I am a little nervous to do this because I don't want them to think I am bothering them and have it count against me. Any insight from someone who has done this?? I have an interview at the end of Jan at LECOM and would love to get it even a few weeks earlier because of my class/work schedule at that time (and of course an earlier interview is always better). Thanks!

earlier the better, it won't take you more than a few hours to prep (if that even). the whole point of applying early is to get that interview quickly!!!!
