Do the schools usually come to you with scholarship offers or do you have to pull some strings to have them come up with one?
For entrance scholarships, they will offer them to you upon acceptance into the program. The scholarship award letter generally will arrive with your acceptance letter.
If you are offered an entrance scholarship, you should be considering not only the amount - but also the renewal criteria. A $10k or half tuition scholarship sounds fantastic, but it may only be renewable only if you remain top 10% in the class... so basically a 1yr deal unless you can REALLY perform. On the other hand, a $5k sounds may sound mediocre, but if it's renewable with a 3.0 annually, that $ is yours to keep for all 4 years as long as you apply yourself in the curriculum.
For other upperclassman scholarships (APMSA, alumni awards, PICA, clinical, etc), you need to apply for them once you get going in pod school. Once you are a pod student, you should be informed of those scholly offerings by your APMSA reps, school FinAid office, etc. You generally need to have a good gpa, ECs, etc for those awards. There are also some scholly monies reserved for minority students, female students, residents of certain states, etc.
