I understand that you want opinions, but no one can make the decision but YOU. You should have researched the school before you applied to it and then got an impression during the interview. YOU decide.

If you're going to be applying, then a thread like the above mentioned is understandable. It can be considered researching the school.

SDN has become literally clogged with School A vs School B threads and it's not fun for the rest of us.

I personally believe that people shouldn't get any information about a school outside of what they learn on their interview. It makes it a lot more fun when they show up to a school totally shocked that it is different than what they thought it is. And just to fend off the attacks you are about to get, no I don't think it is selfish for you to tell other people not to learn about schools because it is hurting your SDN experience.

ummm, I think the problem is actually that someone who is obsessed with NJMS (or who has been hired by their admissions office) keeps bumping up school X vs. NJMS threads and posting the same crap about walking back and forth to school in five minutes.

oh yeah, and if you think the board is clogged now with school a vs school b, just wait until may!

otherwise, you're being pretty anal. try relaxing your sphincter a bit . . . that giant stick might just come out on its own.

What's wrong with these threads? Interviews happened a LONG time ago for many of us, and new feedback is going to be essential in April and May. I know I'm going to end up posting one or two, just to warn everyone. But why click on a thread if you don't want to read it? Nothing is really "clogged," there are just more threads to scroll through... how difficult is that?

I think it's ok when it happens once or twice from a poster but a few of those are notorious.

Example :

School A vs B thread

Applicant receives acceptance from school C

School B vs C thread

Applicant receives acceptance from school D

School B vs C vs D thread

by this point you are starting to show off and it shows that you really haven't done your homework.

There are always 2nd look weekends anyway.

Must I quote myself again?

By the way, Thanks Jalby and Tezzie. And I still love you, Dr. Kevin

My point: If you take others people's advice on a school and their impression doesn't match up with your expectations, you are going to be disappointed. Go with your gut and the previous research you should have done.

Thanks for the reminder!

Stupid question on its way...

For the benefit of those who anticipate late acceptances, do those second look weekends take place before or after May 15th?

Thanks

Starting two threads, A vs B AND B vs C, is somewhat pointless - it is probably better for someone to do just one A vs B vs C thread.

However, sometimes you can get the wrong impression on an interview day - after all, the interview day and the students you see on it are highly unrepresentative of the norm at the school. Ultimately making the decision is an individual one, however it helps to have a resource like SDN to make this decision. On SDN, you can hear opinions from current students at particular schools. Also you can hear other positive/negative aspects about a particular school that you may not have considered. Not to say that the views on SDN are the end all be all but when making decisions like this, it helps to hear as many viewpoints as possible!
