Hey guys,

I'm in the process of getting my application together and I was hoping to get your opinion on my school list.

I'm a NY resident and have a 3.5 sGPA and a 3.6 oGPA, non science major.

I got a 22 PAT, 21QR, 20 RC, 30 Bio, 23 gen chem, 30 Orgo, 26 TS and 25 AA

I have a strong committee letter, 2 or 3 good extracurriculars and about 4 or 5 years experience as a dental assistant.

Right now my list is:
Stony Brook
UPenn
Columbia
NYU
Tufts
BU
Buffalo
USC
UConn
Maryland
Temple
Rutgers

maybe UMich, Louisville, Pitt, Case?

What do you guys think? are there schools I should take off or add?

Thank you so much.

With your stats, you'll likely get in somewhere, so it may be more useful for you to explain what kinds of schools you're interested in, and people giving you feedback in that way. For example, are you looking to minimize you cost of attendance? Maybe you want to specialize and want to know which schools you should add to focus on that endeavor.

That said, I think you can drop USC, seeing as it is extremely expensive and, from what I understand, not particularly noteworthy as a program (no offense USC students).

If you do go the cost of attendance route, there's a lot of good discussions on SDN that speak to this topic, and you should target schools that provide residency to OOS students after the first year or two.

If I were you I would also drop boston. Its not a very good program, and with your stats you'll def get interviews at many places

I made the mistake of applying to Boston, then they sent me the supplemental asking me why I wanted to go there, and I tried looking for something to write other than that it was a backup, but couldn't find anything. Everyone I talked to said don't go there.

Go to temple or NYU or boston

thanks a lot for your replies, I'll strike out BU and USC. I'm definitely thinking somewhere in New York/northeast, I'm just not sure what other schools I should put in because my main goal is to get in this cycle and not have to take another gap year

apply to Louisville, Pitt, Case! good schools! (don't know much about Mich)

Don't go to stony brook or buffalo.
