Hi! So I’m about to apply to schools and I need some help with chances/where to apply. I’m an Ohio resident, low socioeconomic, both parents GED, one of them ill. No physicians in family, white woman, and worked consistently through college.

GPA-3.65 (literally 1class screwed me.. but upward)

MCAT- took in June expecting 510-514

Research- 2 years over 1000 + hours in a biochemistry lab. Director of research; First author on a molecular kinetic toxicology paper. Won a school wide research forum, presented two other posters and a finalist in school wide thesis comp. also have 4 scholarships for research through the school.. and a research fellowship in enzyme kinestics that was super hard to get.

(Want to be a research based physician)

Clinical volunteering-75 hours at a hospital working with patients

Shadowing- 200 hours pre op and surgical

MUSIC- I’m a performance minor. Have 2 involved performance groups

Music/volunteer- I began a partnership btw the school of music and our cancer hospital. Huge part of my time so they can play for cancer patients (300hr)

*also have a full tuition scholarship to my in state uni.. but worked nights as a bartender to pay rent

Teaching- taught for 2 going on 3 years general and organic chemistry to the Office of Diversity - most valuable experience.. advocate for women in science groups after this.

SO I really don’t want to go in state but I have BU, Loyola, UF, Dartmouth, Miami, keck, tuft, Pitt, USF, Tulane. Pls give me more.

THANKS!!

When do you get the MCAT results?
It would be an error to omit any IS public schools.
I get it the 30th... the only I would consider is Case or OSU and I went to one of them

It would be an error not to apply to the others.
Case's median is 518. OH State's is 516...

I think we should wait until you have your score. Advice will vary dramatically depending on whether you score at the upper or lower end of your expectations (except that you should apply to all state publics!).
