Genuinely curious. Literally have no idea.
Depends on the colors... If it/they are normal colors for neckties, then yeah, sure. If it's orange or light blue or something not typical, then it definitely has the potential to work against you -- though if it's your alma mater, it probably won't.

That would be pandering. The school colors of the school you're interviewing at.
We actually had an MD/PhD candidate do this, complete with gold medallion!I personally don't wear neck ties on my interview days because they don't allow me to show as much chest hair.

Do you remember that show on TLC from a few years ago, What Not To Wear? @gyngyn could do his own version of the show dedicated to medical school interviews. Or better yet, he could just publish a photo book of all the insane outfits applicants at his school have worn over the years. 😀*sigh* Only at gyngyn's school. I swear I won't be surprised if he reports that someone interview naked.

No way I'm competing with the Prince of Punnery on this one. The Emperor has no clothes here, and that's the naked truth.Actually some guy did just but was rejected. Just spend his hanging out at the intro sessions and didnt standup to the competition. In several metrics he didnt measure. Sounded good on paper but on closer inspection just no meat on them bones. His scores were little low and they told him to get it up.
