What are the main factors you used in prioritizing the schools you wanted to attend?

Here is mine so far in order:

Previous Residency Matches
Clinical Rotations
School Culture
Grading Scheme
Diversity
Tuition
Cost of Living
Climate
Location

gestalt feeling during interviews (most important factor for me)
curriculum (wanted a systems-based approach and 2 full preclinical years)
rigor of clinical training (the harder the better)
departmental strengths (esp. surgery, surgical subspecialties, anesthesiology, radiology, and internal medicine)
location
cost
P/F first year
quality of facilities
research opportunities
quality of teaching during preclinical and clinical years
availability of mentors
unique aspects of the school

1) Will they accept me?
2) Will they accept me?
3) Will they accept me?
4) Will they accept me?
5) How well will they prepare me for medicine in general?
7) How well will they prepare me for my boards?
8) Good residency matches?
9) Location?
10) Tuition
11) Hot chicks a plenty?

Indeed. Did you do your trip log yet? I only jotted like a few notes down and I'm trying to expand it beyond half a page. My entire assignment comes out to about two pages. This is sad.

It's not the same. It's the difference between going to a sporting event or watching it on gamechannel on your computer.

residency placement varies a bit from year to year, and specialty to specialty. I recommend looking at the past few years for a specfic schools, for the fields you are interested in.

I wish I had that kind of info, but it seems as if for 90% of my school they dont post their lists online (I got them when I interviewed). So I only have 1 year's worth. Some schools only have PGY-1, so a lot of the more competitive matches are missing altogether.

There should be some standardized database for this (dont need names, just locations and field from each school).

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Some schools are really good about making that info available. But for others it's quite difficult. It would be nice if we SDNers got some information together. =)
