This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

I've spent a decent amount of time cruising the osteopathic forums and I've noticed that some schools have some regulars. I was thinking to myself that it was pretty wonderful that these individuals are also so willing to answer questions about their institution. I've consulted some of these regulars and gained some insight that has played a small role in my evaluation of institutions with which I have applied. I would like to thank each of you for this.
I believe others can agree with me that SDN is a tool, one that does affect the minds of applicants to varying degrees their assements of specific schools at one point of the journey to matriculation. I believe it is also safe to assert that schools are businesses competing for applicants. Recognizing that some schools happen to have a slightly louder (more visible) presence on SDN I couldn't help but wonder if school designated SDNers exist?

1) An admissions person at one school had mentioned that they do indeed read these forums and I couldn't help but wonder if a school(s) has taken the step to sell/defend their school through an admissions designated SDNer, your thoughts?
2) What are your thoughts regarding students at a school asking a classmate to sort of recruit, answer questions, and if need be defend the school as a sort of 'official' position?

Pretty much I'm curious as to whether these scenarios might exist, and even if they don't would they be beneficial or tainted by an extra layer of bias? Could this be a way to improve the resource that is the pre-osteopathic forum? 😕

I am sure my school’s admission office is aware of these forums and someone may or may not read them but they do not interfere with our perspectives on the school. When I signed up to give tours and have lunch with interviewees this year all I was told was to show up at a certain hour on a certain day and to give the students my perspective. I was given absolutely no guidance, which is great for you guys. I can and will tell you what is great and if something isn’t so great. The best part is that if it isn’t great you can bet that we are in the process of changing it and it will get fixed. Our Ad committee also has third and fourth year students on it who participate in the interviews and selection. It is just a peak into the way UMDNJ runs, it is very student oriented. Our student council has a huge impact on the curriculum, activities, and changes to administration.
However, anything I say here is my opinion only, there is nothing official about it.
