Someone has a list already posted on the forum, I am just confiming and adding to the list. These are the schools that have replied to me so far
LIST CONTAINS ONLY SCHOOLS I AM INTERESTED IN..
pre reqs do not expire
Cooper Medical School

UC Davis----the Admissions Cmte. prefers that ALL premedical courses be completed within FIVE years to the date of application. *Should this not be the case then the Cmte. will look for a current more recent academic record. *To accomplish this you should plan to complete a MINIMUM of 20 to 30 semester hours of upper-division advanced biology courses.

Eastern Virginia Medical School
UC IRVINE--do not have a cut off for how old your prereqs can be, like to see current course work
UCSF
Boston University--If *you use older coursework, the committee will pay particularly close attention to your MCAT score to ensure the knowledge is still present.

SUNY Downstate---ill recognize the prerequisites courses taken five years ago. *However given the length of time that has elapsed since the time you completed your science course work, we would recommend that you take advanced science courses at four year colleges known for having rigorous science courses.

Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science
Albany Medical College
Quinnipiac

University of Miami--There is no expiration for prereq credits.

NYU- will accept credits taken five years ago...10years cutoff

Albert Einstein --Applicants who have completed all of their pre-medical requirements more than five years prior to submitting their application must show evidence of participation in either academic or work experience in the biological sciences. Academic experience should include at least one course in a discipline such as cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, immunology or neuroscience. Work experience may include research in the biological sciences.

University of Central Florida
HOFSTRA LLJ
Jefferson--may need to do refresher courses or additional upper level courses are encouraged.

Harvard--Currently, do not have any expiry or cut-off for prerequisite coursework. If it has been many years since the course was completed, while not required, we do recommend either retaking or supplementing the course to ensure you have a mastery over the material.

Tufts
Florida Atlantic University---Pre-reqs that are within 10 years are acceptable.
UC Caribe-Puerto Rico

Will add as more schools respond.....

What about schools like Tulane that don't even have prereqs? Does that meet your criteria?

Virginia has no prereqs. Just my opinion but I don't think schools care about 10-15 year old prereqs with a strong MCAT.

I have mixed feelings about making A list like this as it seems things are often decided on a case by case basis and exceptions are made. Ie. older pre reqs but you've been teaching bio at the community college for the last few years and your mcat rocks ...well we'll waive that requirement. Or your pre reqs are old but you've got a year of solid higher level science coursework to show you can do it.

That said I asked the mayo admissions crew and was told that they don't have an expiration on pre reqs or other courses and that the mcat would be used more heavily to gauge that.

A list where the schools actually DO draw a recent hard line would be a lot more useful.

Most of the schools seem to have either very long deadlines (10 years) or mitigating circumstances ('we want to see some recent work and a good MCAT').

The small list of schools who will throw you out on the technicality is the list I care about.

Well, the list is a good starting guideline for how these think. I am sure it is cases by case basis, but we do know that all schools have prereqs, so no harm in asking how they view them. The more you e-mail the schools the more you find out, that's my strategy, and the list is for people who care to know...not for people who think they already do...

The list could specify whether it's a clear policy (ex. on website), or possibly a case by case basis. It could also include dates schools are added or updated on the list. Heck, it may even be a sticky or spreadsheet some day (speculation).

This is probably something most non-traditionals wonder about.

Defensive much? Wholeheartedly's proposed list would be a whole lot shorter and more clear cut. But whatever, forge on.
