The only school I'll be accepted at in CA is Loma Linda. I like the school itselt but I cannot imagine living in Loma Linda for 4 years. I think I'll wither away in boredom. I know dental school is rough but I need to have a life outside of school. I am young and I want a rich experience because I know that once I settled down and practice, the opportunity is gone forever. For those who don't know, Loma Linda is a town for families and retirees. That's why they have large patient pool. And ~1/2 of the class is married by the 2nd year into dental school. So, not much dating, socializing outside of school.
The only school on the east coast I am interested in is Boston University. They have a strong clinical program and from I have read, the school takes good care of its students. ANd well...student life in Boston...cannot get any better than that.
But one of my friends, who is a dental student, says that since I plan to practice in CA, stay in CA because it is very difficult to pass the CA licensure exam if I were trained by a school on the east coast. I would have to "buy" patients to come to CA and find equipment. It is a really BIG headache, he says. But is it really worth the four years of boredom I'll have to adjust to at Loma Linda?
