Hey all! Wondering if I can get some useful feedback on my school list and what I should add or remove. My GPA is on the low side due to a 3.0 year freshman year but I've turned it around with straight 3.85 semesters my Junior year.

  1. cGPA and sGPA as calculated by AMCAS or AACOMAS cGPA: 3.53, sGPA: 3.52
  2. MCAT score(s) and breakdown 524 (132/130/130/132)
  3. State of residence or country of citizenship (if non-US) WI
  4. Ethnicity and/or race White of Hispanic ethnicity
  5. Undergraduate institution or category UW Madison (prestigious but not too much)
  6. Clinical experience (volunteer and non-volunteer) 50 hours volunteering directly with patients in inpatient psych unit and neurology units, some experience taking vitals and placing clinical test equipment on research participants (not clinical but close) I know this might be my weakest section but I am hopeful it is average.
  7. Research experience and productivity 700 hours split between a wet and dry lab in the Dept of Psychiatry. One undergraduate poster to show for it.
  8. Shadowing experience and specialties represented 90 hours shadowing between psychiatry, cardiology and internal medicine specialties,
  9. Non-clinical volunteering 40 hours on misc. activities including wrapping gifts for economically disadvantaged children, organizing a trivia night for UNICEF.
  10. Other extracurricular activities (including athletics, military service, gap year activities, leadership, teaching, etc) 1000 hours in university marching band, 1 year (1 year still to come) of Resident Assistant leadership dealing with crisis situations and building a community
  11. Relevant honors or awards Full tuition scholarship awarded to high merit individuals who are ethnically underrepresented at UW Madison.
  12. Anything else not listed you think might be important GPA trend - 3.0 Fresh year, 3.5 Soph year, straight 3.85 Junior year (2x Deans List)
Schools I Want to Apply To:
1.) Wisconsin School of Public Health (Dream School)
2.) Medical College of Wisconsin
3.) Stanford
4.) Creighton
5.) Seton Hall
6.) Michigan
7.) Dartmouth
8.) USC Keck
9.) Emory
10.) Case Western
11.) Iowa
12.) Minnesota
13.) Penn State
14.) Ohio State
15.) Hofstra
16.) Vermont
17.) Mayo in MN

THANK YOU ALL!

Which Hispanic group do you belong to ? Are you fluent is Spanish ?

I am Mexican. I am not fluent in Spanish, but I do have a low-conversational understanding of the language.

I suggest adding these schools to your list
Mayo (Arizona)
Arizona (Tucson and Phoenix)
Einstein
Mount Sinai
NYU
Georgetown
Loyola
Miami
Work on your Spanish proficiency

Thanks for your feedback! Working on my Spanish proficiency is a long term goal of mine. I unfortunately can only afford maybe 16 schools on my list. Would you recommend swapping some schools on my list for ones you recommended? Thanks so much for your help!

From you original list you could remove Penn State and Ohio State.

What's your reasoning behind removing them? I can understand that Penn State can be low yield, but I feel competitive for Ohio State, is it low yield as well?

I am attempting to match your Mexican background to areas with large Hispanic and/or Mexican American populations. There are few Hispanics in the area areas surrounding Penn State and Ohio State.
