URM, non-STEM major, 3.7X cGPA, 3.7 sGPA (4.0 w/o Math), MCAT 514. Graduated High School in Indiana, but the state of Michigan also considers me to be in-state. Transfered, sophomore fall, however that sophomore year I had to deal with health issues, which required me to double withdraw from both semesters, and I had to withdraw from a course in the summer because I tore my ACL. I also failed a math class (calc III) at a local community college, as i had the misfortune of someone running a stop sign and totalling my car on my way to the final, and the professor would not let me reschedule it, so I had to take the L. I am currently in the process of attempting a grade grievence to see if I could get that F turned into an incomplete (or withdrawn). As the F was in a math course, this absolutely tanked both my normal gpa and sGPA. Other than the rouge F, my last two years at uni were nearly impeccable earning a near 4.0.

My ECs: Scribed an NP for about 700 hours, little research, decent clinical voluteering at local hospital, above average non-clinical volunteering (not saying exactly what for anominity).

My stats are fairly mid, what im mostly scared about is my chances at MD-schools, since while I know that while my stats would normally be fine for *some* MD schools, my Ws might spook nearly all of them away, however I do not know if this fear is unfounded or not.

On the offchance the school accepts my grade challenge, would there be any schools that would be potential targets? My gpa then would be low 3.8 cGPA and a high 3.8 sGPA. Would it be worth it to just take it again if they do not take it? It wouldnt be super time consuming to get the class done at a different CC, as I have since moved away from the campus. (Also if the class gets turned into a W or an I, as it would be the sole class from that CC, would I even have to submit that transcript?)

How many hours of clinical volunteering with patient contact do you have ? How many hours of non clinical volunteering in activities such as food bank, homeless shelter, etc. . Which URM community are you from ? If you are Hispanic, are you fluent in Spanish ?

About 200 (will continue to go up as I just started my gap year), about 1000 non-clinical (primarily dealing with rural issues). I am Hispanic and fluent in Spanish

Boston University
Mayo (Arizona )
Arizona (Tucson and Phoenix)
If you are applying this year you should apply in the coming week and submit all your secondaries by early September.

When did you submit your grade challenge? Have you submitted an application or will you wait until that is resolved?
A few weeks ago, should be completed by Friday, will wait until it gets resolved. I currently am volunteering at a clinic and working a job that pays decently so if I have to take another gap year then it won't really bother me. My MCAT score will still be <3 years out, so it's fine.

why are you waiting to apply. With what you’ve got I’d just apply now. Even with the F.

Contact some local LMSA chapters to have them help with your apps and interview prep.

I really don’t think waiting a year does you a lot of good.
