Hey all! I graduated with BS in Health Science in 2013 from a small Catholic Liberal Arts College in CA with a solid GPA (3.75/3.65), then attended a grad school for 2 years and graduated with a MA in Chemistry (3.85). Got a 517 (131/128/128/130) on my September MCAT. Due to some immigration issues, I only recently got my green card and I'm currently in Boston, so no in-state love from UMass. My family lives in CA though so I'm thinking of maybe claiming CA residency if that would help.

UG ECs:
2 summers of full-time summer research (2 different research projects each summer), and 1 semester research at my undergrad.
1 publication, 3rd author (~4 impact factor journal)
Gen Chem lab TA (4 hours per week, 2.5 years)
Live in tutor/science mentor for the honors freshmen dorm (1 year)
Resident assistant for a Sophomore dorm (1 year)
Student Disciplinary Council member (2 years)
College Health Advocacy Group events coordinator (2 years)
Drummer for the schools pep band, president for 1 year, VP for another year (4 years)
Guitarist for school Jazz band (2 years)
Staff Writer for the pop culture section of the school's news paper (2 year)
Clinical volunteering (~100 hours, but only for 1 month as a January Session internship)
Shadowing (~40 hours with an internist and pediatric neurologist)

Post-college ECs:
1.5 years of research in grad school (30-50 hours per week) doing enzymology/protein chemistry research.
1.5 years of being a graduate teaching fellow (8 hours teaching labs, 2 hours office hours, ~8-10 hours grading per week)
Currently a full-time research assistant at a cell biology/metal metabolism lab at Harvard, hopefully I'll be on a publication that'll be submitted by January/February
Soup Kitchen/Computer lab volunteer at a center for HIV+ individuals (since June)

Been trying to get a clinical volunteering gig since August, but I've had no luck so far... Applied to hospitals and hospice care facilities, but will keep applying to more. Also, trying to find more shadowing opportunities, but again no luck...

I'm looking into trimming my list down to twenty, but if you think it's safer to apply to the full list (or maybe expand it?), I should have the funds to cover those expenses as well.

If you want to stay in CA I would definitely add USC. If you want 3-4 more schools since I cut it down to 16 here are some I would consider for those last few spots: Duke, Vanderbilt, Western Michigan, Jefferson, Medical College Wisconsin, Albany, Miami, Emory.
