hello, fellow SDN family. Below I have listed 13 schools for which I am interested in applying to. I don't want to bore you all with my life long achievements and all of that jazz so I will try to hit the highlights and hopefully some of you generous folk will be able to guide me in the right direction.

(Assuming my MCAT score on Aug. 18 reveals 505+)

E.C.s

80+ hours of shadowing all D.O. Physicians. (Anesthesiology, plastic surgery, family medicine, general surgery, ortho surgery.

200+ hours of volunteer within the community and within the student body at my state university. I will also add my study abroad community development here in Belize.

3000+ hours of compensated clinical experience in the E.R., physical rehab, med. Surge., geriatrics, telemetry, radiology, assisted living.

I have a C.N.A. And have been a full time employee for the vast majority of the 6 years of schooling.

I took a gap year while switching from a community college to a state university; my GPA has increased tremendously since my community college days. My CC GPA was ~3.3 and my University GPA is around 3.7 with an average of the two meeting around 3.47 cGPA and 3.27 sGPA.

I actually have similar story as yours, cc GPA 3.0, university and grad school gpa 3.85+ (top public school). 31 mcat. total 3.5 cGPA, 3.6 sGPA with two replacements. Maybe add.LECOM, Touro, vcom into your list

There is absolutely no reason an applicant like you should even think about applying to Burrell.
Marian hasn't graduated a class yet, so I would shy away from that too. CCOM is crazy expensive. Hope for that in-state tuition at OSU.

You can never assume your MCAT score is going to be 505+ unless you keep getting at least 510 on your practice exams.

In my experience, for most people, the real score is going to be lower than what they've been getting on practice exams. I had 34-37 on my practice exams but only got a 31 on the real thing. The actual exam does give you more pressure, and you may feel more rushed. Remember, every 2 questions wrong on the MCAT will lower your score by 1 point (for the old one.)

Maybe the new one is a little more lenient on grading? Not sure.

Well, I appreciate your feedback, but the reason I said assuming a 505 is because I probably won't submit without an MCAT of atleast 505+. The new MCAT is much different and I feel like 505 might actually be a very safe number for me to assume. Maybe, maybe not, but I wanted to give these folks something to gauge off of for a better understanding of where I could be competitive at.

Actually, the often touted rule of thumb is +/- 3 points from practice scores (old test obviously). Doing worse on the real exam is just as likely as doing better. Obviously on an individual level there are a variety of factors such as stress, sleep, nutrition, environment, etc. but statistically speaking it's pretty much normally distributed.

You're fine for all of them, and any other DO school.

A 500+ score will get you in somewhere. Getting to 503+ will give you more options.
