  1. cGPA and sGPA as calculated by AMCAS or AACOMAS: Still waiting to be verified but estimate approx 3.5 for both
  2. MCAT score(s) and breakdown: 506 (126/124/126/130)
  3. State of residence or country of citizenship (if non-US): WV
  4. Ethnicity and/or race: URM
  5. Undergraduate institution or category: military
  6. Clinical experience (volunteer and non-volunteer): Approx 150 hours at on-base clinic
  7. Research experience and productivity: First author on one published study, two additional studies that are not published yet
  8. Shadowing experience and specialties represented: Approx 150 hours; pediatrics (my intended goal)
  9. Non-clinical volunteering: Tutoring disadvantaged kids, intern for a federal agency to recruit physicians
  10. Other extracurricular activities (including athletics, military service, gap year activities, leadership, teaching, etc): Active duty, team captain for one college team sport, team manager for another college team sport, military leadership positions and training
  11. Relevant honors or awards: Dean's list through college, SHPEP
  12. Anything else not listed you think might be important: selected for military scholarship for med school; Open to DO and MD schools
  13. Current school list:
    1. DO Schools: AT Still, ACOM, ARCOM, CUSOM, Midwestern, Tuoro, LECOM, NECOM, WVSOM
    2. MD Schools: Charles Drew, Eastern Virginia, Howard, Marshall, Meharry, Penn State, ETSU, WVU

My SHPEP experience was 2 years ago. So their advice at that time was quite generic.

Where did you attend SHPEP? In terms of a school list, I would include any/all SHPEP or SMDEP (former) sites since those admissions committees should be familiar with what SHPEP is.

Your in-state options should definitely be included. Military status and having an HPSP assurance will also make you desirable. I'll let others come up with specific lists.

URM - black female. SHPEP was at Howard. Connected with the SHPEP faculty on LinkedIn but not in active contact with them. One of my primary mentors there has moved on to other things. Yes, have included my instate schools.

You do not need to apply to DO schools. I suggest these MD schools with your stats:
West Virginia
Marshall
Uniformed Services University
Howard
Meharry
Morehouse
UCLA Drew
Charles Drew
Pittsburgh
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
Georgetown
George Washington
Eastern Virginia
Hackensack
Einstein
New York Medical College
Vermont
Dartmouth
Brown
Tufts
Quinnipiac
Case Western
Wayne State
Oakland Beaumont
Medical College Wisconsin
Rosalind Franklin
St. Louis
Tulane
TCU
Miami
Emory

Thank you so much for taking the time to look through and respond! Truly appreciate the collective wisdom here.

Quick update - got my first A today. To WVSOM (my top choice for DO school as it is close to home)
Interviews scheduled for: Howard, USUHS, WVU, ACOM
Thank you again for all the advice. I will stay connected and look forward to helping future pre-meds as I get further in my medical career.
