I’m open to being corrected by the sages around here, but I really don’t think anyone will care about that IA. Who didn’t invite a friend over in college after hours or something?

We've discussed your IA elsewhere.

Honestly, I think your profile is very desirable. I will presume you can communicate your mission as a future physician and why you are willing to walk away from your community involvement to become a physician for your community. However, you don't need to become a physician to become an advocate on health literacy.

Well, for me, I want to know if your endgame is focused on your non-profits to effect health access? You have a lot of national/international experience, so is your goal to be closer to policy advocates? The connections and potential mentoring become very important, and any school list you get should be cross-listed with people you feel can champion your goals. The issue is where you can continue your learning (if we're talking organization management) while learning how to be a doctor.

Certainly the usual places are large cities. However, the most effective community partners are non-profits that are highly focused with their own communities. If you have a strong desire to see health access and outcomes improve in your one county, it's better to become a leader/clinician in that county. If you want international/national impact, staying close to the centers of power (this includes state capitals) makes the most sense, but networking with your local/state medical association and getting involved can get you there.

Show us what you want to become and the schools will judge whether they are the right school for you.

Just to be clear, are you an international student? You talk about a country abroad where you're from and I'm curious to see if that's why you selected out the list of schools you did.

my endgame is mostly focused on improving english literacy and health education in very rural areas in the countries i serve, but yeah i mainly want to network with medical professionals so that would ultimately help bring most benefit to communities

That's what I was driving at yes. If you were an international student I'd understand the top heavy list because the number of schools that accept international students is rather small. But in your case, I would at a minimum add every MD program in California (except for Riverside, unless you have ties to Inland Empire). Although you certainly have a strong resume, I ALWAYS recommend people apply to all their IS programs and some additional safeties as necessary.

It's a good list. Consider Pitt, Columbia, Einstein, USF/MORSANI, OH STATE, WESTERN MI, U MI, U VA, U CINCI
