  7. Research: ~1500 hrs (no pubs/presentations, upcoming manuscript)
  8. Shadowing: ~150 hrs (OB/GYN, Trauma, Vascular, Peds)
  9. Non-clinical volunteering: ~600 hrs (shelter/food bank, residential hotline, children's hospital art volunteer)
  10. Other extracurricular activities: 3000 work hours from college—restaurant hostess/server

Really trying to trim my school list down. I know some of these have OOS bias and my stats are already low. I'd like to emphasize caring for vulnerable populations in urban areas, and much of my activities have reflected this. Any advice would be appreciated.

Can you break down your 600 hours of non-clinical volunteering? When did you do these activities?

How long ago was your bachelor's degree? How many course hours are included in your postbac GPA?

Caring for people in urbanized areas... consider removing these schools first:
  • Western Michigan (Kalamazoo)
  • Larner/Vermont (Burlington)
  • Methodist Cape Fear (Wilmington)
  • Eastern Virginia/Old Dominion (Norfolk)
  • Virginia Tech Carillion (Roanoake)
  • Alice Walton (Bentonville)
  • Roseman University (are you talking Utah or Nevada)

You have some state pubic schools on your list that admit few non residents with your stats and no connection to the state.
I suggest these schools with your stats:

Hi! Thank you for your response. I did most of my non-clinical volunteering during undergrad. I volunteered at a soup kitchen for 4 years, helped as a resource navigator (assisting with housing, insurance, and government aid applications), and did virtual programming with pediatric patients during COVID (arts/crafts).

I received my degree in 2024, and my postbac includes 8 courses total (completed at the same instituition I graduated from). I would appreicate any other advice you have! Thanks
