My stats:
Cgpa 3.5, sgpa 3.27, MCAT 25: 8, 7, 10; Retake pending.
ECs:
40 hrs shadowing DOs & MDs. Observed OMT.
1-2 yrs Hospital volunteering, Lots of Teaching/tutoring experience.
Years of non-medical community service with underserved populations.
International & public health mission trips & multiple leadership club positions.
1 yr working with doctors in public health/community setting.
Strong theme in application of public health, serving underserved populations, etc.
LORS: clinical letter from DO, character letter from MD, & pretty decent science & committee LORs
State of residence- IL
What I’m worried about: somewhat downward grade trend- Lots of family & financial problems accumulated last two years of undergrad, and I ended up doing bad (B-/C+s) in about 3 or 4 higher level science classes. Oh and the mcat isn’t too great either, and I’m not sure how the second one went.
Based on all that, please suggest schools for me. I’m thinking of applying to about 25-30 schools, so maybe it’s better to list schools that I shouldn’t apply to? Not sure- any help would be appreciated! Also, can someone clarify exactly what it means to apply broadly- meaning I should be picking multiple safety schools along with reach schools?
Let me know if more details are needed. Thank you in advance! 😀
