  • Year in school: Just graduated. BS in Biology and Philosophy

  • Country/state of residence: NY

  • ORM

  • Cumulative GPA: 3.86

  • Science GPA: 3.87

  • MCAT Scores: 520 (131/129/130/130)

  • Research – include any abstracts/posters/publications and how you were credited (eg. First author, senior author, etc): Worked as a research assistant in a lab studying brown algae my sophomore year. Worked in a lab my junior year that studying plant population genetics and was first author on a poster presentation. Summer between junior year, I did clinical research and am first author on a manuscript that will be accepted for publication in a journal soon. I worked as a mentor to four high school students one summer and we carried out a research project in ecology (put this down as a "teaching" experience, but it was also research as we completed a poster of which I was first author).

  • Volunteering (clinical) – include hours/sites: 154 hours as a patient rounding volunteer (visit with patients, get them anything they need, and make conversation) at a hospital. This was three hours a week. [I'm going to be starting a volunteer position at a hospital closer to home in the next month or so.]

  • Physician shadowing – include hours/specialties: None

  • Non-clinical volunteering: 40 hours at a hospitality house (a place that provides a place to live for people who would otherwise would be homeless and provides meals to homeless). Also did some smaller, one off events with an honor society I am in.

  • Extracurricular activities: Worked for three years with the undergraduate research journal at my school. Was book review editor my junior year and editor-in-chief my senior year. I was part of a residence hall association as president of my dorm's board and we put on a bunch of events in our dorm and helped raise money for a charity.

  • Employment history: Graded homework for math professors one year as a part time gig.
  • I'll be completing a Masters in Ethics and Society as part of a five-year program at my undergrad institution this upcoming year.
  • Interest in rural health (y/n): No
Schools to which you are applying: Realize this is a big list. I'm willing to do the work on secondaries and plan to pre-write a lot. Also trying to think of this as a "small" investment money wise.

You are not top heavy enough.
Just keep all of your IS schools...
Delete the OOS schools where you are above the 90th%.
Just curious, would the lack of shadowing be an issue, or do the stats make up for it?
