I'll be honest, I've kind of been putting off composing a list of schools to apply to. The way I see it is, there's about 30 DO schools, and I plan on applying to about 25, so it's more a matter of choosing which schools I'm not going to apply to.

My stats are 3.43c/3.39s/29MCAT. The rest of application is in OK shape I think. From a rural area and have some volunteer experience helping out the community, so I might fit the mission of some schools.

The schools I'm thinking I shouldn't apply to so far are OU-HCOM and TCOM because of strong IS preference. I still think I'll apply to MSUCOM even though their OOS tuition is really high; are they still not doing interviews?

I don't think I'll apply to LUCOM because of what I've read, wouldn't be a good fit for me.

Are there any other schools that have a big IS preference where I shouldn't bother applying to, or any schools that have average stats out of my league?

I would say you're on the lower end for the more established schools, but you could still stand a chance so you could apply anyway.
All good reasons to not apply to those schools, especially OU, as they require you to work in Ohio.

Don't apply to these: LUCOM, OSU-COM (Oklahoma), OUHCOM, Burrell, UNECOM,

TCOM is worth applying to IMO.

Unsure how you will do at AZCOM, Touro-CA, Western-COMP, but still worth applying to them.

Rest are game. Good luck!

Why not UNECOM? I forgot to mention I'm from the North East, although not a New England state. To apply to TCOM, it has to be through the TEXAS app system not AACOMAS, right?

Ohp didn't know you are from the NE. Then def apply to UNECOME.

Yes you have to apply the TMDSAS for TCOM.

IS bias for UNECOM but didn't realize they were from the NE.

I think OP has a fair shot a TCOM. If they have the money then might as well...you never know!

I think "they" are actually 1 person with multiple accounts. LOL

Haha yeah awkward. I always forgot the password to my account so made this second one. Accidently re-signed in with my other account to reply. My bad.

I'll probably skip TCOM because my GPA is even lower without grade replacement, which I assume they don't use if they use TMDSAS.

Avoid Burrell just because it is new? And also for profit?

You think OP should fill out a separate application to TCOM, but advise against applying to OU-COM or OSU-COM?

That is correct. With your stats, I assure that you will get in somewhere. Now go write write a good Personal Statement/secondaries, then practice on your interview skills. GL

Honestly, I think the IS bias for UNECOM is greatly over-stated on SDN. When I interviewed there was only a couple of people from the New England area at the interview and all the rest were from significantly far afield. I was from a state bordering what is considered "New England". I have heard the same from folks on other interview days. It definitely does not seem to be as extreme as OSU, Ohio, MSU, PNWU, WCU etc...

Are these stats really on the low end? I hope to have about similar stats (GPA wise, not MCAT) after all my re-takes/studying and that kind of freaks me out.

No no no! The GPA is on the low end for the bigger name schools and it's an average mcat for some of those.
He'll be highly competitive for most schools, and it's possible he'll get into some of the upper end schools.
How competitive you are will depend on your MCAT

Why not Burrell?
